Equinor has cautioned that the United Kingdom risks becoming "uninvestable" if North Sea projects Jackdaw and Rosebank are blocked. The Norwegian energy company's chief executive cast doubt on whether future investment in the UK could continue if drilling approvals are denied, drawing attention from the BBC, The Times, and the Financial Times.

The warning intensifies scrutiny of UK energy policy at a time when the government is considering the future of North Sea development. Blocking the two projects, Equinor argued, would send a troubling signal about the country's willingness to support large-scale energy investment.

Separately, Equinor published a quarterly update on 7 October 2026 saying its trading profit will beat its own forecast for the third quarter. Reuters broke the news ahead of the company's planned earnings release.
